Chris Versteeg is a Rotterdam-based graphic designer and illustrator, founder of the creative studio Projekt C, and chief editor and publisher of SAM: Street and More magazine. As a kid he loved to draw, skateboard and cause a bit of trouble; in the early nineties he got into graffiti, and it became his true love for years. Painting, climbing fences, running from the wrong people, ending up in late-night bars, sleeping outside and traveling most of Europe, making friends for life along the way. After graduating from the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, he continued his studies at the Willem de Kooning Academy, but dropped out after a year and a half to start working. Best choice he ever made. These days he spends most of his time in the studio working on illustrations, magazines, books and paintings, though he still sneaks out to paint from time to time — and his current work, both digital and manual, is a mix of clean graphic style with natural and industrial touches, without losing the graffiti and big-city-life elements that shaped him.
