Miguel Januário, aka ±MAISMENOS±, is a Portuguese visual artist and graphic designer born in Porto in 1981. He created the ±MAISMENOS± project in 2005 while studying Communication Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, and it soon became an internationally recognised urban-art practice. His work questions the political, social and economic structures of contemporary urban life, using signs, opposites and visual systems to turn familiar symbols into critical statements. Since 2014 he has focused almost exclusively on the project, working across video, installation, painting, sculpture and performance and presenting it in galleries, museums, public spaces and international festivals.
