Gonçalo Fialho, known as UIVO, is an independent designer born in 1994 and based in Lisbon, Portugal. He grew up in a rural environment, and that upbringing shaped his creative outlook early on and still runs through his practice today. He studied Design at ESAD.CR (Escola Superior de Artes e Design de Caldas da Rainha) from 2012 to 2015, then worked at LOLA MullenLowe Lisboa and later at 23 Milhas in Ílhavo, before going independent in 2022. His design philosophy centers on finding objects rather than inventing them, combining a deep understanding of local culture with a democratic, cooperative and play-based way of working. Alongside his own practice, he co-founded Agil, a cooperative workspace, print house and association in Ílhavo, and previously founded and art directed Implosão, an illustration research platform, between 2013 and 2017. More recently, he's split his time between the studio, a stint at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, and teaching as a Guest Assistant Professor at ESAD.CR.
